Zagat Survey

Zagat Survey was established by Tim and Nina Zagat in 1979 as a way to collect and correlate the ratings of restaurants by diners. The first guide was for New York, initiated by the Zagats who survey their friends, as of 2004 there were more than 70 cities covered. In addition to restaurants, guides also cover various leisure activities, such as travel, shopping, and recreation. Over 250,000 individuals contribute ratings to the guide. The information is available in book form, as well as software for personal digital assistants, and on the internet.

Rating System

The ratings are on a 30-point scale, covering food, decor, service, and cost.
