Vonda Shepard (born July 7, 1963 in the state of New York) is a singer that gained popularity in the 1990s, whose best known songs are mostly covers of oldies from the 1960s. She is best known for her regular appearances in the television show Ally McBeal, where she played the resident performer at the bar where the characters usually drank at after work. She plays piano,guitar and bass.
Shepard's first chart appearance, however, was in 1987, when she recorded a duet with Dan Hill, "Can't We Try".
