UK History was launched on 30th October 2002, to coincide with the launch of the Freeview digital terrestrial television platform. Along with the rest of the network, the "UK" prefix was changed to "UKTV" on 8th March 2004 and is thus now known as UKTV History.
The channel is available on digital terrestrial television (Freeview) Satellite (BSkyB) and Cable platforms. Unlike the other UKTV channels, UKTV History is not a subscription channel but is Free To Air on all digital platforms. A timeshifted "+1" service is also available on some platforms.
This channel shows a wide variety of History documentaries and biographies mainly from the BBC archive.
