Turk Broda is a former ice hockey goalie for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was born in Brandon, Manitoba on May 15, 1914 to a Polish-Canadian family. He joined the Maple Leafs in 1936. In 1941 he won the Vezina Trophy and and was be selected to be on the All Star Team. The next year Broda had another great season leading Toronto to a Stanley Cup and being selected on the second all- Star team. From 1943 to 1945 Broda left hockey to serve in the military during the Second World War. When he came back he later led Toronto too three more Stanley Cups and won another Vezina Trophy and to be selected on the 1948 first All star team. In 1951 he won his last Stanley Cup with Toronto and retired in 1952. He was inducted to the Hockey Hall Of Fame in 1967 and died on October 17, 1972.
