Trolley dodger was a pejorative term for residents of Brooklyn, New York from the late 19th century the middle of the 20th century. The term, relating to trolleys, is the basis of the name of Major League Baseball team the Los Angeles Dodgers (which was originally based in Brooklyn) and the now-defunct NFL team the Brooklyn Dodgers.
