The Mercury is a daily newspaper, published in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. It was started in 1854 by John Davies, then published twice weekly and known as the Hobarton Mercury.
After Davies' death, it was carried on by his sons under the name of Davies Brothers Ltd .
In 1988, it was sold to News Corporation.
