The Bagpipe Report

The Bagpipe Report is the world's first weekly professional wrestling magazine show that broadcasts via The Wrestling Channel. The weekly hour long in-house produced programme from Howth, Ireland - presented by Blake Norton - launched on July 9, 2004 at 8PM.

Transcending from an earlier web based newsletter; the show which boasts no allegiances, no politics, and no agendas, covers the entire spectrum of the wrestling world with all the latest news, exclusive interviews and competitions. Apart from airing across Europe, shows are available for download from the official web site.

The beginnings

Whilst studying in New York, Charles MacLaurin became a pioneer of the internet wrestling fan base when he launched The Bagpipe Report in 1996, a newsletter with a mailing list for thirty friends. The name of bagpipe was apparently due to the originator hailing from Scotland.

By 1998 and a subscriber base over 5,000, MacLaurin passed the torch to Blake Norton, then the senior writer. After an amalgamation of several other newsletters, The Bagpipe Report's readership increased to over 40,000, making it the most read wrestling newsletter in the world.

Television format

In mid-2004, with The Wrestling Channel having over 15 different promotion television deals from across the world, the station was considering a magazine style show that would provide the latest news and compliment their wide programming portfolio. In a statement on June 2, Blake announced that he would be presenting this new programme, logically known as The Bagpipe Report.
