Point Pleasant was a Fox television show which commenced airing in January 2005. According to SciFi Wire, it was cancelled in March 2005, due to poor ratings.
The show was created by Marti Noxon, who is well known to fans of Buffy, having worked closely with Joss Whedon as executive producer for several seasons. Point Pleasant originally drew in many Buffy fans for this reason, but most of them were disappointed with the distinct 'soap-opera' flavour that the show displayed, and not many were greatly saddened by its abrupt departure.
A young girl, Christina, is washed up on the beach near Point Pleasant, New Jersey during a violent storm. She is taken in by the Kramer family and befriends their daughter, Judy. It transpires that her mother had lived nearby: the show follows her attempts to discover who she really is and what actually happened to her mother.
