Nick Dinsmore

Nicholas Dinsmore (born December 17, 1975 in Jeffersonville, Indiana), better known by his stage name Eugene, is a professional wrestler who performs on World Wrestling Entertainment's RAW brand. Before he donned the "simpleton" gimmick of Eugene, he wrestled in Ohio Valley Wrestling, partnered with fellow RAW superstar Rob Conway.

Profile

  • Height: 6'1" (185 centimeters)
  • Weight: 238 lbs (108 kilograms)
  • Trained by: Danny Davis
  • Finishing maneuvers: The character Eugene emulates World Wrestling Entertainment superstars (past and present), and he can often be seen ending matches with The Rock's People's Elbow (dubbed "The Special People's Elbow") and Rock Bottom, as well as "Stone Cold" Steve Austin's Stone Cold Stunner, and even Hulk Hogan's Running Atomic Legdrop.
  • Favorite Wrestler: Triple H (as once stated during a memorable in-ring promo with Triple H's long time rival The Rock).

Career in World Wrestling Entertainment

Eugene is portrayed as the "mentally challenged" nephew of RAW General Manager Eric Bischoff, who was placed in the care of newly returned former Commissioner William Regal. Eugene has gained the support of superstar wrestlers The Rock and former World Heavyweight Champion Chris Benoit, while simultaneously becoming enemies with loudmouth announcer Jonathan Coachman and his lackey Garrison Cade. He has also survived a match with the Big Red Monster, Kane. He was later in a WWE storyline in which he was battling Triple H. The storyline ended with Eugene mercilessly beaten in a steel cage match by Triple H and portrayed with a severely separated shoulder.

The injury was largely worked; while wrestlers are often injured, any injuries mentioned on television are typically part of the storyline, and are quite often not related to a wrestler's actual injuries. Eugene returned, with Regal at his side, to feud with his "Uncle Eric". The storyline led to a match at the Taboo Tuesday pay-per-view in October 2004, in which fans could vote on the match stipulation. The chosen stipulation was that the loser would have his head shaved. Eugene won this match forcing Eric Bischoff to shave his head.

Eugene teamed with William Regal to win the World Tag-Team Championship from La Résistance on the November 15, 2004 edition of RAW. Later, Eugene would injured himself at WWE New Year's Revolution after botching a dropkick. He suffered a ruptured left patellar tendon and will require surgery, he was gone for several months.

This also cost him the World Tag-Team Championship when William Regal had to have Jonathan Coachman as his tag-team partner due to Eugene's injuries, and wrestled against La Résistance in a championship match. Regal and Coachman went on to lose the match at a RAW-brand house show crowning La Résistance their third reign.

Despite his injury, Eugene was featured in a commercial promoting WrestleMania 21 parodying Forrest Gump with Eugene playing the title role. He also made a surprise appearance at Wrestlmania 21 delivering a trademark Eugene promo until being interrupted by controversial Arab-American heels Muhammad Hassan and Khosrow Daivari who then attacked Eugene. This was the prelude to the much anticipated return of Hulk Hogan, who came to the ring to save Eugene from the double team beating.
