M. F. Thatherton is a fictional character on the animated series King of the Hill. He is a former employee of Strickland Propane who struck out on his own and opened up Thatherton Fuels across the street from Strickland. Unlike his rival Strickland Propane, Thatherton uses lewd methods and lies to sell his "propane and propane accessories". He is a foil to Hank Hill. When Hank introduces him to a builder that thinks of Texas stereotypes, he dubs Thatherton as "The most lewd propane dealer in Texas". He once joked that he sold propane to nursing homes by telling them it was oxygen. Every week, he and Buck Strickland gamble, with Buck's bet as the least selling employee, Joe-Jack.
Whenever he makes Hank or another member of the Hill family angry, they often say THATHERTON!
