Broadcast technical standards

Canada has adopted the NTSC and ATSC television transmission standards without any alterations. However, some unique local variations exist for DTH television due to transponder design variation in the Anik series of satellites.

Broadcast television networks

  • CBC, or the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. National network broadcasting both in English and French (SRC).
  • CTV, originally CTN (Canadian Television Network), an English national network.
    • MCTV (Mid-Canada Television)
    • ATV (Atlantic Television)
  • Global, English network, national except for the territories and Newfoundland and Labrador.
