Diesel Locomotive Works

(Redirected from DLW)

The Diesel Locomotive Works in Varanasi, India, are a major manufacturer of locomotives in India. Founded in 1961, the company rolled out its first locomotive three years later, on January 3, 1964. They supply a large variety of locomotives to the Indian Railways, mostly diesel-electric locomotives. They also export to other countries, such as the neighbouring countries of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, but also to Tanzania or Vietnam.

The manufacture locomotives which are based on the Original ALCO design dating to 1960's and also manufacture locos which are based on the GM EMD Design ( 1990's). They manufacture locomotives with power output ranging from 2600 Hp to 4000 hp.
